Zippers consist of two strips, each with a row of plastic or metal teeth that interlock in the middle to form a fastening chain (clasp). This fastening chain is opened or closed using a zipper slider. Standard zippers remain connected at the bottom even when open. Separable profile zippers can be unhooked at the bottom, whereby two-way zippers can be separated on both sides. Endless zippers come in rolls by the meter and the slider is inserted afterwards. Zippers can be printed, water-repellent impregnated or waterproof (AquaGuard®) coated with polyurethane.
