A cutting mat is a cutting surface consisting of a composite of different materials of varying hardness. The outer layers are made of soft, elastic PVC, while the middle layer consists of a hard PVC core. This ensures that the cut always ends at the level of the middle layer and the outer layer can retract after cutting thanks to its elastic properties. This principle is known as “self-healing.” Cutting mats are double-sided and available in various sizes on the market. They are ideal for cutting textile and non-textile materials in combination with a rotary cutter.
