Binding tape is used to bind and neaten one or more edges of sewn items and is made from materials such as polyester, polyamide, polypropylene or cotton. The binding tape serves both a visual and functional purpose, covering the bound edges of the sewn items and protecting them from fraying, for example. Depending on the application in home or technical textiles, binding tapes consist of a single or multiple pre-folded tape that encloses the edges of the sewn fabric in a U-shape and can be sewn by hand or with a tape binder. Binding tapes are available in different widths and in elastic and non-elastic versions.
